Wiston和Julial两人如约去见O’Brien了。

But merely to walk into such a place needed an effort of the nerve.需要鼓足勇气

The whole atmosphere of the huge block of flats, the richness and spaciousness of everything, the unfamiliar smells of good food and good tobacco, the silent and incredibly rapid lifts sliding up and down, the white-jacketed servants hurrying to and fro—everything was intimidating.

The passage down which he led them was softly carpeted, with cream-papered walls and white wainscoting, all exquisitely clean. That too was intimidating.

Winston向O’Brien袒露了自己过来相见的原因，O’Brien也问了一些有关他们两人能够做的事情，但当问到两人是否能够分开，两人都say no ，可见两人是有人性的。

O’Brien向Winston和Julia说了加入兄弟会的艰辛的生活方式，两人并没有因此受到影响。
