《道德经》第一章 “道可道，非常道；名可名，非常名” 英译

道可道，非常道；名可名，非常名。

Dao that can be daoed(dao in Chinese that has one meaning  means express)is not the true Dao; Name that can be named is not the true Name. 

无，名万物之始；有，名万物之母。故常有，欲以观其妙；常无，欲以观其徼。

Nothingness is the forefather of the universe. Wholeness is the father of the universe.(Nothingness fathers wholeness)  So, in the nothingness, everything evolves in its profound and subtle ways; in the wholeness, everything begets in its correlated ways. 

此两者，同出而异名，同谓之玄。玄之又玄，众妙之门。

Nothingness and wholeness is oneness. They are both mysterious. So mysterious so that they are the secret to the mystery of the universe.
