236、英语小故事（英汉对照）“诚实是最好的政策”

Howard was a good businessman；he had been all his life. He was so successful because he was a smart, kind, and considerate（体贴的）.People liked doing business with him because he always considered his associates'side of things.

霍德华一直都是个很好的生意人。他之所以如此成功，是因为他聪明、友善且体贴。人们喜欢和他做生意，因为他都会站在对方的立场为他们考虑。

One cold October day, he agreed to do a business deal with a man from out of town. Howard had hesitations about working with this man but decided to go ahead with the deal anyway.

某年十月，在一个寒冷的日子里，他答应要和镇外某个人谈一笔生意，霍德华对与他合作一事有点迟疑，但还是决定先合作。

About three weeks later, Howard found out the man had cheated him. Howard lost a lot of money and his business was in trouble.People in the neighborhood heard the news about Howard and wanted to help.

三个礼拜后，霍德华发现那个人骗了他，霍德华赔了很多钱，他的公司也陷入麻烦当中。附近邻居得知霍德华发生这种事，都很想帮他。

Howard had done business with many people；and because he was such an honest man, he had made many friends during his career. Financial offers were made to Howard with little expected in return.

有许多人和霍德华做生意，因为他是个诚实的人，而他也在事业中结交了不少朋友，大家不求回报地给他提供资金方面的帮助。

With the help of the other business owners, Howard was able to get his business up and running again.

在其他公司老板的协助下，霍德华得以让他的事业起死回生。

为人之道，外圆内方，正直为要；为商之道，大义谋心，诚信为本。
