Everyone is unique(《阿甘正传》影评)
Do you still remember a classical line in the movie Forrest Gump? The schoolmaster of Gump's primary school told Gump's mother that "Your child is a little different "while Gump's mother just said "Everyone is different ".This sentence touched me at once.I totally agree with this viewpoint that everyone is unique and different from any other people around us.So, we shouldn't have any discriminations toward others.
Gump was a mentally handicapped children and many people laughed at him during his lifetime. However, Gump owned a greatness mother and two friends that had a great influence in his life. They all saw Gump as a normal person and used their love to encourage Gump and Gump made great success at the end of the movie.
We can see many discriminations in this film, the racial discriminations, the discriminations toward Gump and prejudices to beat generations.Although there are a lot of discriminations, the director tries to persuade us to respect everyone.
First, Gump's mother never regards Gump as a mentally handicapped man like other people and she is proud of her son whatever Gump does. She tried her best to provide an equal circumstance for Gump. Not only the environment affects Gump's life, but also his mother's characters affect Gump. She always illustrates things in simple but philosophical words. For example, she said that stupid is as stupid does. You can say that Gump's mother is really a good mother.
Then, a main theme in this movie is the racial discrimination.Gump has a good company called Bubba who is a Negro. At first, Bubba didn't repel Gump and gave a seat to Gump when other people refused to do so.As a result of this kindness behavior, Gump also treated Bubba equally although Bubba was a Negro. In this friendship we can conclude that love and respect is mutual, if you respect someone, then he or she will respect you in return.
Finally, it comes to Jenny, Jenny respected Gump and did great favor to Gump so she won Gump's appreciation.Jenny wasn't acknowledged by most people because she was the representative of the beat generation but Gump loves Jenny all the time.He didn't look down on Jenny's behaviors and forgave her.He believed that everyone had right to choose his or her own life and we shouldn't discriminate against them.
Obviously, Gump won success, friendship and love because he loved others regardless of races, occupations and so on.This conclusion also applies to our society, everyone is unique and what we need to do is do not make everyone become the same but respect the differences.Only in this way can we have a better society.
