Day 14: How to make it stick for
I wish I have the permanent memory to remember all the important knowledge I learnt. However, it seems there is no guarantee of performance.
We have probably forgotten much more than we realize. Retrieval practice is well-known to be more effective than passive review for long term memory. That is mean to recall what's in it rather than just re-read things over and over.
Do the periodic learning instead of cramming to the head in a short period and boost the skills we learned there as well. Make a commitment to ourselves.
A defensive strategy that prioritizes maintenance eventually becomes a straitjacket as you don’t have time to learn new things.
Think about relearning. It could be a good option to refresh our mind and even higher skills.
It tends to be much faster than initial learning. It is a form of spacing practice. It prioritizes useful knowledge.
When we rebuilding confidence for the pain. Our set-point for a particular skill is higher than the reality, o even doing our best with the old skill seems terrible. Face those awkward. Even we were struggling with a lot of basic stuff and the negative feeling might have made us want to quit.
Stay hungry, stay foolish. Keep hamble and swallowing the ego and doing some rebuilding first.
