Text A The kindness of Strangers

1 I came upon a young man standing by the roadside.

2 There was a time when you'd be considered a jerk if you passed by somebody in need.

3 What bothered me was how easily I had reached the decision.

4 I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.

5 The idea intrigued me.

6 I realized i"d never taken a gamble in my life.

7 I discovered that others shared my fear.

8 I was amazed by the stubborn capacity of Americans to help a stranger, even when it seemed to run contrary to their own best interests.

9 You are not supposed to pick up hitchhikers.

10 A trucker pulled over, locking his brakes so hard that he skidded on the grass shoulder.

11 He was once robbed at knifepoint by a hitchhiker.

12 People were generally compassionate.

13. The people who had the least to give often gave the most.

14. the kindest act of all was when they merely were themselves.

15. She was the picture of Southern charm.

16 The kids would be exposed to what else is out there.

17 Have you fallen in love with anyone?

18 My faith in America had been renewed.
