The Little Sweet White Flower

The other day, I came across a fragrance.

Where are you from? I wondered.

So sweet, your figure I could not help tracing.

Mango flowers?— ’cause it’s the first thing in sight.

Wished to pluck a piece from the tree and prove,

But retreated for the unreachable height.

Tracing, I kept tracing,

But the line of mango trees disappointed me.

Today, finally, I found you

—there behind the mango tree and high above amongst green leaves.

What a thrill!

Eagerly I moved towards you.

Caught sight of you

—small white bud-like flowers!

Sweet, so sweet, I felt drunk.

Wish to approach you

And breathe in your fragrance to my heart’s content.

But high above you stay I could only watch.

Now without you by my side,

I have your scent on my mind.

Maybe it’s the distance that has made you so special!
