So, actor has become gender-neutral in many cases. Actually, in 2010, The Observer and The Guardian published their new joint style guide, stating:

Use for both male and female actors; do not use actress except when in name of award, eg Oscar for best actress.

And dictionaries have never made actor exclusive to men. Oxford Dictionary defines actor as:

A person whose profession is acting on the stage, in films, or on television.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines actor as:

one that acts
