Revenge is a feeling that almost every human around the world has felt. It's a concept that has withstood the test of time because there is a universal aspect to it. Someone wrongs you and you want to retaliate. This feeling can come from something small like stolen lunch money, or as big as murdered loved one. There is a reason why revenge is used as a motivation in film and television. It allows us to root for the protagonists as they deal out their own brand of justice. Revenge is simply a concept, an emotion, and a universal mindset. But this accomplishing revenge leaves you fulfilled. Confucius argued that it doesn't. Revenge can lead a person down a dark path. Thoughts of destroying another person for your own gain can lead you to depth you never thought you could go spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. By the time you fulfill your revenge quest, you're just as dead inside as the one you're revenging.
Instead, consider letting that feeling pass over you. The next time someone has wronged you, perhaps forgive them, or maybe take a deep breath and let the anger blow away into the wind. You might just save yourself an early grave.
