一个美国人在朋友的墓碑前放上了献上花环，他看见不远处，一个日本人正在把一碗米饭放在朋友的墓碑前。

美国人问：“你觉得你的朋友什么时候能来吃这碗饭呢？”

日本人回答：“当你的朋友来闻这些花香的时候。”

When your friend comes to smell his flowers

An American laid a wreath on a comrade's grave and saw, nearby,  a Japanese laying rice on the grave of a countryman.

The American asked, " When do you expect your comrade to come and eat that rice?"

The Japanese replied, " When your friend comes to smell his flowers."
