Everyone needs compliment
The other day, I was criticized by the headmaster for ordering food online to school. I apologized immediately and promised not to do so again. As an adult, I was mature enough to feel ok to be criticized and let it go afterwards. But if this accident happened 10 years ago, the emotional hurt I would had got from this mistake would linger for so long that I may feel ashamed of it for a month!
Being able to let it go is definitely a life skill for sensitive people. This reminds me of a blogger who basically shares nothing in her video but her lie-flat kind of lifestyle. She complains about work, low income, and claims that her dream is to lie flat and enjoy country life. What makes her successful? I think it is her sincerity and honesty about being an ordinary person. An ordinary person makes mistakes, accepts her flaws and lives happily with them.
Yesterday, I criticized Maomao in public because he was late for skating lesson. Tension always happens when there is an emergency and I feel helpless when requiring him to do something fast.
What I did was very impatient. I should next time set off earlier. Criticizing him only makes situation worse, just think about my feeling after being criticized by the headmaster last week. Think of ways to communicate instead of yelling.
In the lesson, I kept complimenting him about his attentiveness and efforts, he was quite encouraged and I could obviously see that.
Everyone likes a compliment. Try complimenting one more person in my life.
