German Chancellor

In 1954, a girl named Angela Merkel was born in Hamburg in West Germany. A week later, her family moved across the frontier while hundreds of East Germans went to the west at the same time. That’s because Merkel’s father, Horst Kasner, worked for Lutheran Church which served the regime of G.D.R (German Democratic Republic).Living conditions there were unimaginably awful: They had to live with hundred physically and mentally disabled people on the outskirts of Templin; even sixty men had to crammed into a worn-out house. The material was so deficient that they had to grow crops and trade by themselves. This childhood experience exerted significant influences on her and forged an optimistic characteristic.

Merkel has always been a serious and tough girl since she was little. Always wearing dark color clothes and a rigid haircut, she refused any ostentation in appearance and kept her austerity. Such a female figure not only incurred her humiliation from young boys around, but neglect from all of her political opponents as well. However, she fought back with her strong will and superb intelligence—Merkel went to study physics at Leipzig University and earned a doctorate in quantum chemistry in Berlin. With the help of Benn, her teacher at eighth grade, Merkel was trained to have a good command of Russian. When Benn recalled the past, he burst into tears and admitted that Merkel was his favorite pupil. Her language advantage also astonished Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin.

Merkel once participated in the most prevailing party in East Germany, the Free German Youth, where she took painstaking efforts in propaganda. As popularity accrued, she was defamed by some ulterior whispers, through which she learned the significance of keeping prudent about the words. All those qualities Merkel acquired during her life and experience played crucial role in her political life.

Refugees in Germany

In this days, Merkel was accused of implementing her refugee policies which unleashed the safety valve of Europe. Millions of refugees flooded into European land to seek political asylum and opportunity of migration. Even though she was of well awareness of cruelty of politics, she offered generous assistance to those children and adolescent refugees, making an exemplar for the rest of the countries. Under her stern appearance concealed a kind and brave heart, which deserved sincere respect from the bottom of the heart.
