“The price for needing it to work is that it doesn’t work.” Derek Moneyberg

There’s a difference between wanting something to happen and needing it to happen. When you want something to happen, you go about your life trying your best, with the hopes that the result you want will come your way.

When you need something to happen, you become needy, and neediness repels whatever results you want because you put those results on a pedestal.

Let go of neediness. Confidence can best be defined as a total lack of neediness.

Instead of needing something to happen at a specific time, create systems and processes that will lead to good results. Scott Adams talks about this in his book How to Fail at Almost Everything and still win big:

Goal-oriented people exist in a state of continuous pre-success failure at best, and permanent failure at worst if things never work out. Systems people succeed every time they apply their systems, in the sense that they did what they intended to do.
