Speech at the opening ceremony of the new campus of Miluo No. 1 Middle School and the opening ceremony of the school year in autumn 2022

万山红遍层林染，橙黄橘绿盛景时。今天，我的母校汨罗一中新学校在市委市政府的高度重视下，举全市之力，历时一年，如期开学。

All mountains are dyed red by the forest, in the prosperity when all things flourish. Today, the new campus of Miluo No. 1 Middle School, my alma mater, starts as scheduled, which is completed with the great attention of the municipal Party Committee and government, and with the efforts of the whole city

欣逢盛事，无比振奋，也豪情满怀。

I am extremely excited and full of pride when I meet with the great event.

值此新学校启用之际，让我代表汨罗一中的校友向母校祝贺，祝福母校桃李满天扬四海，赓续辉煌誉中华！

On the occasion of the opening of the new campus, let me congratulate our alma mater on behalf of the alumni of Miluo No.1 Middle School, bless our alma mater, who has students everywhere, and may she continue to be brilliant.

千山一脉，饮水思源。今天的汨罗一中恢弘大气，布局科学，设施先进，是一所智慧型数字化的现代化学校，让学生高兴、家长满意、老师自豪。

Thousands of mountains come down in one continuous line, and we should think of the source when drinking water.

Today's Miluo No.1 Middle School is an intelligent and digital modern school with magnificent atmosphere, scientific layout and advanced facilities, which can make students happy, parents satisfied and teachers proud.

这都是因为有市委市政府对教育的深切关怀、巨大投入，有社会各界的全力支持、无私奉献，因此我们要心怀感恩。

This is all because of the municipal Party Committee and government’s deep concern and huge investment in education, as well as the full support and selfless dedication of all sectors of society, so we should be grateful.

我是从汨罗一中走出去的学生，人生观价值观的形成是在一中奠基的，精神底色是一中老师帮我绘就的。

I am a student who went out from Miluo No.1 Middle School. The formation of outlook on life and values was laid here, and the spiritual background was painted by the teachers of No.1 Middle School for me.

现在当我在北京大学的讲堂上面对来自世界不同国家、祖国不同地区的学生时，我深深感恩母校给予我的力量，感恩母校让我勇于突破不断进步。

Now when I face students from different countries and those from different regions of our own country in the lecture hall of Peking University, I am deeply grateful for the strength and courage given to me by my alma mater for me to make breakthroughs and progress.

在此让我祝福母校的师生以新校园建设为新的起点，奋楫笃行，续写新华章！

Here, let me wish the teachers and students of my alma mater to take the new campus construction as a new starting point, work hard and continue to write a new chapter!

六十六载耕耘，感奋在今朝。宏伟蓝图，六十六年只是序章。

66 years of hard work, we’re moved and inspired in the present. 66 years is just a preface to a grand blueprint.

在母校激荡新气象、开启新纪元之时，我们一中的校友，会更加密切关注母校的发展动态，支持母校的教育发展，用宏阔的视野来助推，用实际行动来助力，多争取社会资源，多为母校师生解决实际困难。

When our alma mater is stirring up a new atmosphere and ushering in a new era, our alumni from No.1 Middle School will pay more attention to her development, support the educational development, boost her with a broad vision, help with practical actions, strive for more social resources and solve practical difficulties for the teachers and students of our alma mater.

同时，我们也寄望母校在读学生珍惜好时光，勤奋学习，练就自身，永不懈怠，寄望你们将来也能成为行业标杆、业界引领，在各条战线、各行各业建功，比我们这些老校友更出彩、更优秀，为母校增光添彩，为社会安宁和谐、为国家富强、民族复兴做出自己应有的贡献。

At the same time, we also hope that the students in our alma mater will cherish the good times, study hard, develop yourselves, and never slacken off. We also hope that you will be more brilliant and better than our old alumni, become industry benchmarks and leaders in the future, make contributions on all fronts and all walks of life, add lustre to our alma mater, and make your due contributions to social harmony, national prosperity and rejuvenation.

《诗经》有言：“维桑与梓，必恭敬之”。

There is a saying in the Book of Songs: "Be respectful to our native place. "

今逢盛典，感动于怀，感恩在心。无限深情，唯有展望。

On this grand occasion, I’m greatly moved and grateful in the heart. I look forward to the future with infinite affection for my alma mater.

最后祝福母校汨罗一中蓬勃发展，才俊如星流，栋梁满神州！谢谢！

Finally, I wish our alma mater, Miluo No.1 Middle School, vigorous development with talents like stars, and mountains of pillars of the nation. Thank you.

湛中乐，男，汉族，1964年出生，毕业于北京大学，曾任石河子大学政法学院党委副书记、委员、院长（挂职）。2007年承担中国法学会部级重点课题《行政调解、和解制度研究》和司法部课题《社会抚养费问题研究》。
