这部电影根据真剧照剧照⼈真事改编，叙述患有妥瑞⽒症的男孩努⼒达到成为⽼师的梦想，并且克服病症的故事。
电影的主⼈公布拉德·科恩，⼀个乐观向上的天⽣患有妥瑞⽒症的男⼈。什么是妥瑞⽒症呢?是⼀种⾮常严重的痉挛疾病，患这种病的⼈⽆法由意志控制的、快速的、盲⽬的影响⼤部分肌⾁群的动作痉挛或者多种声⾳痉挛。
布拉德·科恩会经常性的⽆法控制⾃⼰发出怪声和脖⼦抽动。当他上⼩学的时候常因为发出奇怪的声⾳被⽼师批评，被同学欺负。这使他感到⾮常的苦恼和难受。学校的校长发现了这点，在⼀次全校师⽣都在的场合⾥⾯。巧妙的让⼤家知道布拉德·科恩为什么会发出奇怪的声⾳和不时的抽动。因为他得了⼀种病，因为这种病他⽆法控制⾃⼰的⾏为。因为校长的⼏句话⼀席教育，打开了布拉德·科恩通往全新世界的⼀扇门。从那时起布拉德·科恩希望成为象校长那样爱孩⼦的⽼师。为此他不懈的努⼒着。遭遇了⽆数的失败和冷嘲热讽。最终实现了⾃⼰的梦想，同时也找到了属于⾃⼰的爱情。
