Book Review on Steve Jobs and my
The first month of this term, we have already finished the learning of Steve Jobs. Speak of him, you may come up with the image of CEO of Apple company and the founder of Animation Production in Pixar. The invention and development of Apple devices are inseparable from Steve Jobs' contributions.
His life was wonderful. From the founding of the company till he was fired, from Pixar life to the time that Apple empire was built, all showed his capacity. When I read the biography of SJ(which written by Walter Isaacson), I always get strongly surprised. In the brief introduction of book, we can know that Steve Jobs allowed the author to objectively tell his own story in detail, which makes this book of great reference value and showcases his exceptional character.
I have a question: Why can he made his entrepreneurship career achievable and be great?
Actually Steve was not a good scientific and technical personnel. But on the other hand, he has an unparalleled vision and business sense, including control over product positioning. His production philosophy is the key to guiding Apple step by step towards successful.
For example, Steve advocates simplicity on every production and project. Simple is an attitude of life. For people, concise things are easy to understand and can minimize energy consumption by focusing on a few things. For high-end devices, simplicity can provide many benefits. We could saw all of these on iPhone, iMac, iPad, and his Apple career.
His creativity was unparalleled. He once said “little artists learn, great artists steal”.He focused all his inspiration and learning experience on making products. Obtaining touch screen technology from glass, learning terminal technology from Xerox, and learning software skills from Microsoft……Continuous innovation is the power that can make company going forward.
For another example, Steve knows how to create with the step of market. With the development of the music market, consumer demand became increasingly important. So Steve Jobs quickly realized the opportunity and developed iTunes.Despite the cooperation with other companies, Steve Jobs chose the “close” thought to protect the technique. At last, not only have consumers been satisfied, but Apple's sales have also increased. And they left Microsoft behind.
You can say that Steve is a maniac. But Genius and maniac are only one step away. Jobs was known for challenging conventional thinking and pursuing perfection. He didn’t value authority and regulation. That also made his high expectations for his teams and productions. Maybe his leadership style was also controversial, But it cannot be denied that he is a great leader and inventor, and opened a new era.
Then what can we learn through his life? Yes, we need to have one part of vision of this world, and continuously developing our creativity. We can’t just learning knowledges from old textbook. We need different perspectives to view this world, in order to increase our own personality and mind. That’s the way to the success.
