慈母手中线，

My kind mother has a needle and thread in her hand

游子身上衣。

Making new clothes for her son who is to travel far away

临行密密缝，

She is busy sewing closely before my leaving

意恐迟迟归。

Worried that I cannot come back for a long time

谁言寸草心，

Who says that the heart of an inch-long plant

报得三春晖。

Can requite the radiance of full spring

【注释】

1）寸草：比喻非常微小。

2）三春晖：母爱如春天和煦的阳光。三春即孟春、仲春、季春，指整个春天；晖，阳光。

【白话译文】

慈祥的母亲手里把着针线

为即将远游的孩子赶制新衣

临行前她忙着把衣服缝得严严实实

是担心孩子此去难得回归

谁能说像小草那的微小孝心

可报答得了春晖般的慈母恩惠
