简介(Preliminary instructions)

During the exam, an extended freedom is granted to Tori for performing appropriate techniques in acccordance with the context of the movement. This freedom will progressively shaped out the the Takemusu Aiki. In this sense, Tori must benefit this freedom rather than repeating mechanically forms out of their context.

Furthermore, it is requested for practitioners to know and respect the etiquette. A good technical knowledge is necessary but not enough to confirm a rank. The etiquette is part of the practice and must be considered accordingly.
Each level implies the knowledge of the previous stages. The examiners can request the applicant to perform part of the curriculum from preceding levels.

初段(Shodan)

For this rank, techniques shall be performed at KOTAI level. The grab is firm but neutral, the movement is static, which means the techniques starts AFTER the grab.
Uke must not take advantage of the deliberately show pace imposed by this level to recover is balance and counter the technique. Such behavior would immediately lead to replace Uke by another person.

Uke must not take advantage of the deliberately slow pace imposed by this level to recover is balance and counter the technique. Such behavior would immediately lead to replace Uke by another person.

Uke must not take advantage of the deliberately slow pace imposed by this level to recover is balance and counter the technique. Such behavior would immediately lead to replace Uke by another person.

This rank will be submitted to the international technical commission.
With the 4th Dan, the learning of Aikido curriculum is complete and constitutes the necessary technical basis to initiate the practice of TAKEMUSU AIKI.

The fifth Dan must make two dimensions visible:

  1. The candidate must show a good understanding of RI-AI, which means firstly, the link that unifies empty hand techniques between them, and secondly what unifies body art with weapons exercises.
    To achieve this, tori will perform an advance version of the randori exercise initiated since the 4th Dan.
    The applicant will introduce and illustrate his/her understanding of RI-AI concept using the whole technical curriculum. On the first part, the applicant will illustrate the RI-AI, deep relationship, between tai-jutsu tachniques, and on the second part the candidate will show the link that unifies tai-jutsu and buki-waza.
  2. The understanding of the true meaning of practice.
    The applicant will rely upon the knowledge of the curriculum to prove his/her understanding of the true meaning of the techniques learned until now.
