Were I the sovereign of this tiny earth,
I would for you no worldly treasure quest.
The dearest jewel of all is of real dearth.
as all those glister could not your eyes best.
Were I the master of the finite time,
I would not alter its predestined course.
Its mighty wheel will halt before your prime
as if your charm repels this nature’s force.
What I for you shall squander is but love,
the most abundant goods that mankind finds.
Yet mine’s as rare as none, for it shall prove
what’er the world and time’s perpetual grinds.
With touch of yours, it will adamantine turn.
Or else, this worthless fuel does vainly burn.
