时间都去哪儿了~旅行的意义
Today, I’m going to talk about a new topic ---traveling.
今天,我来分享一个新的话题——旅行。
Do you think there is a relationship between traveling and time management?
旅行跟时间管理有什么样的关系呢？
I hear quite often people tell me that they have neither the time nor the money to travel. Sometimes they will say they have the time but not enough money or they may say they have plenty of money but not time.
经常有人是这么讲，没时间旅行或是没钱旅行。要么有钱没时间，要么有时间没有钱。
Michelle Obama, former first lady of the United States once said that traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books.
也有人说，读万卷书，不如行万里路。
I am an experienced and passionate global traveler. I once made a plan to travel throughout Europe with my son for one month during summer holiday. Despite the time and budgetary challenges this presented, I achieved my goal.
作为一个环球旅行的梦想者，以及一个环球旅行的践行者，此刻我正在欧洲，我计划在这个暑假陪伴我的儿子，在欧洲游玩一个月，今天我也实现了。
In the past few years, have had to make the time to travel in order to achieve my dream. I’ve also had to teach others how to make the time to travel. I earned that time by working hard to increase my work efficiency and increasing my money through careful planning. You can do this too.
在过去的几年里面，我从一个没时间旅行到有时间旅行，从一个没有环球旅行梦，到偶然听到一个老师分享环球旅行梦，深深的吸引了我，然后通过努力的工作，提高自己的效率，从而赢得了时间和财富的回报，让我有更多的朋友来旅行的环球旅行的践行者。
The first step is to want to travel. You must have the dream and then you must set the goal. A quote goes that “The world steps aside for the man who knows what he wants.”
所以此刻，我特别想告诉你，只要你想，上帝就为你开路。
You must start with the dream not on the off chance that it will come true but because it can never become real unless you dream it first. It is a necessary first step. If you spend time finding a way to achieve it, time will prove everything is possible.
梦想一定要有，不是万一会实现，因为它一定会实现。如果你给它时间，如果你想办法，时间就会慢慢地告诉你，一切都有可能。
I will talk about several aspects of traveling in the next few lessons. Today I want to talk about the purpose of traveling.
今天的话题就是关于旅行，这一主题我会分享几次，今天是第一次讲，来谈一谈旅行的意义。
What’s the purpose of traveling?
旅行有什么意义呢？
There are four parts of this in my opinion.
我觉得有这四个方面：
First, traveling should be an opportunity for you to relax.
首先是让自己放松。
Traveling at least once a year will help you relax your body and refresh yourself for the next year. Having this refresh point will allow you to plan and execute the next year with new energy and focus.
从一年的维度来说，旅行让自己在这一年内去做个规划，好好休息，好好放松。
Over the course of a year people, like you, become exhausted working almost continuously, leaving little time to sufficiently recharge, eat, sleep and be with family.
许许多多的人，一天24小时恨不得都在工作，非常累，这样我们就没有更多的时间去养精蓄锐，好好吃饭，好好睡觉，好好陪伴家人。
Because of this, most people don’t get even one change in the year to fully recuperate. Even during holidays and mini-vacations, most of that time is spent preparing for the festivities. Traveling can be the chance for you to relax, recharge and free yourselves.
在一年的维度，好多人不能好好放松，就连过节也是，大部分的时间用来工作，所以旅行的意义就是在于放松，给自己充电，让自己放空。
Second, traveling is a chance to see the world differently than your used to seeing it and expand your perspective.
旅行的第二个意义是让我们观世界和建立世界观。
Why do you think it means that traveling a thousand miles is better than reading a thousand books?
为什么那么多人讲读万卷书，不如行万里路。
I think it means that experiencing and observing the world first hand will help us truly expand our perspective and build an outlook that will change the way we see and act in our daily lives.
我们要透过行万里路，来观察这个世界，让自己了解这个世界，有了观世界的经历，才能够有世界观。
We spend most of our lives operating in the same routines each and every day and in those routines we gather the basic necessities of life and make contact with the same people. Traveling to different lands allows us to see differences in culture and habits – habits borne out of cultural ways. The world you experience contrasts greatly from the world you’re used to.
我们在旅行中去体验不同地域、不同时空中人们的文化，人们的衣食住行，人们的社会交往，才能让我们看到这个世界跟自己想象当中的差异。
As one of the presidents of Harvard University said, life is a journey, not a destination.
正如哈佛大学的一个校长讲的，一个人生活的广度，决定他优秀的程度。
The third purpose of traveling is to see how others do things differently than you do and achieve the same or greater happiness.
旅行的第三个意义是，透过观世界的体验，发现人们如何改造自然，改造自己，从而让自己更幸福。
You will learn many new things during your travels.
创意是在旅行过程当中，我们会大大收获的一点。
You can apply the things you learn from your travels to your work and life to make things easier, different and more rewarding to you.
旅行能够让我们把这些 不同地方的人的创意运用到自己的工作和生活中。
A traveler in ancient Greece said the world is like a book, but only through travel can we read to the end of it.
古希腊的一个旅行家说世界是一本书，只有环球旅行，我们才能翻到书的最后。
Most people live in the same city all of their lives and rarely venture beyond it.
我们一出生，如果很少出去的话，就只活在了自己的那个城市。
Most haven’t been able to see the wonders of Beijing such as the Forbidden Palace, the Temple of Heaven, and the Bird’s Nest – three great attractions in Beijing.
比如说北京，故宫、天坛，很雄伟，很壮观，鸟巢很现代。
Each day of life brings us love and hate in turns and often we can become affected by this cycle. We start to expect it. It becomes a habit within us.
每天的都市生活，有我们的爱恨情仇，有我们的酸甜苦辣。
But we aren’t aware of how love and hate forms for others throughout the world. Traveling gives us the new perspective that we don’t have to feel the way we do sometimes. We can feel like others do.
但是我们并不知道这世界其他地方的人们的爱恨情仇与酸甜苦辣，所以走出去是很妙的一件事。
The fourth reason to travel is to create motivation.
旅行的第四个意义是动力。
Many of us work to make money. We work smarter not harder. We try to improve. And the reward for all of this is have time to relax and enjoy life.
平时我们努力的工作，让我们赢得财富，让我们好好去提高工作效率，把工作做完，然后有时间去放松。
If we have a concrete goal such as travel to work towards and apply our hard earned income, we’ll work more seriously and pay attention to the details of our work.
带着这样的视角，我们会更认真的工作，我们也会去研究自己工作当中的细节，从而让自己有时间去放松。
Traveling is a wonderful thing for so many reasons and in the end it will increase our efficiency and the value of our work. Isn’t that a great thing?
所以我觉得旅行，真的是可以促进大家，效率的提高，以及提升我们工作的认真的程度，这样不是很好吗？
