- in the picture above,it is obvious that there are 4 main phases in the cycle of the silkworm.
- first of all,the moth produces eggs.it takes 10 days that the eggs of the silkworm will entre into the second phase---to become the silkworm larva.
First of all, eggs are produced by the moth and it takes ten days for each egg to become a silkworm larva that feeds on mulberry leaves.
- the silkworm larva will eat mulberry leaves for its life.and after 4~6 weeks,
the silkworm larva begins to spit out silk thread and twist them around its body.
This stage lasts for up to 6 weeks until the larva produces a cocoon of silk thread around itself.
- after that,it takes 3~8days for the larva to spin a complete cocoon surrounding itself.it is the 4 phase.
After a period of about 3 weeks, the adult moths eventually emerge from these cocoons and the life cycle begins again.
- 16days later, the larva breaks out of the cocoon, finally,it becomes an aldult moth.so the life cycle of the silkworm begins again.
