History / Background:
“Michelin Guide” was published in a Universal Exposition in 1900 as the founders of the Michelin Company, the Michelin Brothers have a vision for the development of car trip. They can have a good earning from selling tyres if car trip becomes popular, so they added features like map, gas station, motels or hotels, car repair shops and more pieces of information that can be of help for a car trip.
Michelin Stars are awarded for food excellence in restaurants. Today they are considered to be highly coveted awards by many chefs in Europe, although accusations of bias lead some chefs, especially outside of Europe, to turn their noses up at them.
Andreinitiated the publishing of "Michelin Guide" so as to promote car travelling thereby impel the industry of tyre factory. In1988, Michelin purchased an America industry of tyre production, known as B.F. Goodrich and Uniroyal company in 1990. On the other hand, Michelin used to own Citroënbetween the year of 1934 to 1976.
"Michelin Red Guide" was being published as the first French travel guidebook in the1990s, it is a pocket-sized book with alphabetically arranged, hotel and yard-service provided famous cities in French. These sites are also labelled with standard grading labels.
"Michelin Red Guide" provides a variety of restaurant grading which marks out those which provides "Special Diet Tourism" service and those with the affordable repast.
In1957, the Michelin company began the publication of Michelin Red Guide of the west European countries, such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, Ireland, Belgium, Netherland, Luxemburg and German.
The"Green Guide" is known for providing the information about museums, natural wonders, places of interests etc. which is one of the popular guidebooks in "Michelin Guide". Michelin came out with a map-containing comprehensive and a complete information.
There are three levels of star ratings which can be awarded to establishments from 1 star to 3 stars:
3 stars "Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey"
2 stars "Excellent cooking, worth a detour"
1 star "A very good restaurant in its category"
