What I learn from Elon Musk’s Co

Bloomberg.com:

Tesla Inc. is close to an agreement to produce vehicles in China for the first time, giving the electric-car maker better access to the world’s largest auto market, according to people familiar with the matter.

The agreement with the city of Shanghai would allow Tesla to build facilities in its Lingang development zone and could come as soon as this week, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the negotiations are private.

Thanks to his news, the stock price of Tesla may fluctuate sharply.

Tesla’s founder and CEO is Elon Musk, who is called the Iron Man in silicon valley.

Yesterday, I learned the Commencement Speech in USC of Elon Musk, in the lesson of Using English Everyday. In the speech, he told the graduating students four terms about success in his mind, work hard, attack great people, focus on signal over noise, and think in first principle. I have the biggest interesting about the last one.

And then the final thing is, is to sort of, don’t just follow the trend. So, you may have heard me say that it’s good to thinking terms of the physics approach, the first principles.

First principle is not a new conception. In philosophy, first principles are taught by Aristotle, an ancient Greece philosopher. A first principle is a basic, foundational, self-evident proposition or assumption that cannot be deduced from any other proposition or assumption. In mathematics, first principles are referred to as axioms and postulates.

Elon described his ideas about startups using the first principle, researched the world through the Physical angle. He sticked off the circles of superficial phenomenons, reached to the essence of things. It is same as finding out the DNA, that we can carry out works surrounding it. Elon founded PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity using the theory. We can also use it in our life.

You feel satisfied with a sunhat which has good effect of sun-shade. But the saleswoman’s  service attitude is so bad. Buy it, or turn back? Buy it certainly, because the first principle is the gratified sunhat.

You have a delicious lunch in eatery, but it gives full measure. Leave it, or eat it? Leave it certainly, because the first principle is getting just enough food.

You drive a car, coming across red light in a intersection. There is no other vehicle, pedestrian, and camera. Stop, or go on. Stop certainly, because the first principle is arriving the destination safely.

Ask yourself frequently: what is more important, what is the most important. Upgrade your values, use the first principle freely when you face to the choice.
