The Best Teacher Ever 2

Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy.

As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded.

By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy.

He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

汤普森太太特别注意泰迪。

当她和他一起工作时，他的头脑似乎活跃起来了。她越鼓励他，他反应越快。

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further.

The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer —the letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story doesn't end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring.

Teddy said he'd met this girl and was going to be married.

He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit in the place at the wedding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom.

Of course Mrs. Thompson did.

又过了四年，又来了一封信。这次他解释说，拿到学士学位后，他决定更进一步。

And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing.

And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back.

She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

㈠人生有两种：开拓式和因循式。以路为喻，前者是开路，向无路之境进发，唤醒蒙昧的处女地。后者是走既有的路，为了谋生，每个人都得进入一个大致固定的程式：上班，下班，干刻板的工作，见一样的面孔，赚工资。轻车熟路，人被习惯带着转。老马识途，仅是一方面；“途”也在塑造途中的老马，从姿态到个性。

除了少数的天才，我们基本是“路走族”。于是，我们的模样、姿态、思想，都是由每天重复走着的路塑造的。路是压模，我们的灵魂贴在路上，让它制造出成品。

路制造人，在布满着现成的大路、小路、高速路、不归路的人间，路就是人生，就是历史，就是性格与命运。你要挣脱路的主宰，反过来由你来走吗？可以的，从事创造吧！向科学和思想的禁地突进吧！打破成见的桎梏，做一个惊世骇俗的“另类”吧！你越是能够发挥自由的意志，越能把像蛇一般盘在心灵上的世俗之路抛弃，踏在脚下，兴会淋漓地走上一回。

㈡人生无奈之事岂止八九。

我们的乐事，其实统统都是捡回来的。我们来到世间的时候本一无所有，所以千万不要嫌得到太少，且欢天喜地享用了再说。我要趁双眼尚未老花，把所有心爱的书本取出，痛快地重阅一遍。

当那一日来到，也就心平气和了。

㈢第一，幸福不是常态，是生活中的一瞬间，这种瞬间多一些，人就有幸福感。我有过三次已经非常满足。持久的幸福感可能是很累的事情。第二，幸福不一定是真实的。即使生活很苦，也不要失去对幸福生活的想象力。最后，是我们的选择决定我们的幸福。

㈣爱到最真处，情至最深时。简简单单，真诚朴素，一举一动都是爱。
