My Journey of Quitting Smoking
Hi everyone, Good evening
My name is Roger,a founding member of Panyu No.1 Toastmasters Club.
,This is my ice breaking speech. I'm from Hebei Province and work in Zhejiang Province ,and now I am on a business tripinGuangzhou.I used to be an automotive R&D engineer, and now I'm a software salesperson and a partner of the company.
I like reading, writing, listening to music, chatting with others, and all kinds of activities that can improve my ability.
It doesn't sound very complicated/ˈkɑːmplɪkeɪtɪd/ , but in fact, I have done a lot of important events, so I have a lot of topics I want to talk about.
Such as starting my own business, having a good family andmy terrible weight loss history, but these are seem too complicated to talk because I only have six minutes , so I decided to talk about my quitting smoking first.
I made it even though so many people said, "It's impossible!" I'm so proud of it.
In my memory, I took my first cigarette when I was in high school. As the leader of rebellious children, I always pretended to be a cool guy holding a cigarette between my lips and usually standing outside of the school gate.
This behavior had led to many trouble and almost ruined my study, I did not give up, because I felt it was really cool.
In fact, I was not a good student in my youth, I bent every effort to smoke . But under the pressure of the outside world,I must controlled the frequency and time.
So I never thought about quitting smoking until My wife came to my life. Fromthen on, the war went on and on,From the balcony to the toilet,
She thought of many ways, such as eating smoking cessation candy, smoking e-cigarettes, and deducting the money for cigarettes, But it was all In vain..
It is easy to imagine that a regular smoker without smoking for half a day, his mind would be empty and his body would begin to twitch……
No matter what I tried,it didn’t work, and I came to the conclusion, "That's impossible!" Then, I chose to get around it
However, I was shocked until I realized that nothing is impossible. I still remember the first time my daughter held her lovely little hands to grabbed my big hand, I knew I had to do something, so whenever I wanted to smoke, I would pick my daughter up and kiss on her face.. My daughter finally overcame my nearly twenty years of smoking.
Now what I recall was the power of love! So to those who have not succeeded in quitting smoking……just do it for love.
