Let it be forgotten，as a flower is forgotten，

Forgotten as a fire that once was singing gold.

Let it be forgotten forever and ever,

Time is a kind friend，he will make us old.

If anyone asks，say it was forgotten

Long and long go,

As a flower，as a fire，as a hushed footfall

In a long-forgotten snow.

莎拉·蒂斯代尔（1884-1933），美国著名女抒情诗人。蒂斯代尔的作品多为短小精致的抒情诗，用词细腻婉约，音韵优美。蒂斯代尔的作品在中国颇具影响力，比如，胡适曾经翻译了她的诗歌Over the Roof（《关不住了》），在五四时期成为了白话文学的典范。

年华如花

忘了它

忘了它，就像忘了一朵花，

就像忘了曾歌唱金色的火，

忘了它，永永远远，

时光好友将我们年华掠过，

若有人问话，就说已忘了它，

在很久很久以前，

如花似火，像脚步轻轻

落入一场早被遗忘的雪。
