While such numerical standards seem straightforward, they are not. Obesity is probably less a matter of weight than body fat. Some people with a high BMI are in fact extremely fit, while others with a low BMI may be in poor shape. For example, many collegiate and professional football players qualify as obese, though their percentage body fat is low. Conversely, someone with a small frame may have high body fat but a normal BMI.

while作为连词的用法：

1.during the time that, or at the same time as 在…的时候；与…同时

While I was in Italy I went to see Alessandro. 在意大利的时候，我去看望了亚历山德罗。

2.despite the fact that; although 虽然；尽管

While I accept that he's not perfect in many respects, I do actually like the man. 虽然我承认他在很多方面不是那么完美，但我实际上还是非常喜欢这个男人的。

3.compared with the fact that; but  但是 (这个意思是我们考研经常出现的，还有后面大作文进行数据对比的时候也喜欢用while)

He gets £50,000 a year while I get a meagre £20,000！他每年挣5万英镑，而我只有可怜的2万！
