1.spend “花费”，其主语通常为人，既可指花费时间，也可花费金钱，结构为：
[sb + spend + some time/money on sth 某人花费时间/金钱做某事。
sb. + spend + time/money (in) doing sth
Every student spends two hours (in) doing his homework every day.
每个学生每天花两小时做作业。
=Every student spends two hours on his homework every day
Tom spent ten dollars (in)buying the shoes. 汤姆花了10美元买这双鞋。
2. take “花费”，其主语通常是形式主语it，常指花费时间。结构为：
It takes/took/will take sb some time to do sth. 某人花费一些时间来做某事。
It takes me one hour to read English every day. 我每天花一小时读英语。
It took us three months to complete the book. 我们花了三个月完成了这本书。
It will take him the whole summer holiday to finish the homework.他将花费整个暑假来完成这些作业。
3. cost “花费”，其主语通常为物，结构为：
sth. cost (sb. )some money 某物花费(某人)钱。
The pen cost me ten yuan.我花了十元钱买这支笔。
The book cost twenty yuan. 这本书花费了二十元。
It costs each student one dollar to buy a ticket. 每个学生花一美元买一张票。
4. pay“花费，支付，付钱”，其主语通常为人，结构为：
sb. pay money for sth. 某人花费了钱买某物。
She paid 350 yuan for the new watch.她花了350元买这块新表。
sb. pay for sth. 某人支付了某物的钱。
He have trouble in paying for the car.他有困难购买这部车。
