Chapter 7 The Sorting Hat
Sorting was a very important ceremony for the first year students because it partly determined the House to which a student might belonged according to the student's feature and had an ability of prediction.
There were four Houses in the Hogwarts school:Gryffindor (brave and chivalry),Hufflepuff( just and loyal), Ravenclaw(wit and learning) and Slytherin (pure blood and cunning).There is an anecdote that J.K.Rowling once was at a lost how to classified the first-year students,and she finally chose the mechanism of sorting hat from other methods such as tutor choosing.
The chapter also underlayed the dislike between Professor Snape,a teacher of potions,and Harry.
