无论和平或战争，永远不要把你的美德或你的幸福托付给未来。把幸福的工作做得最好的，是那把长远目标稍微看轻，而每时每刻之工都“为主而做”的人。我们所受的教导是仅仅求得日用的饮食。只有当下才是能够履行任何责任或接受任何恩典的唯一时刻。

On the present moment

Never, in peace or war, commit your virtue or your happiness to the future. Happy work is best done by the man who takes his long-term plans somewhat lightly and works from moment to moment “as to the Lord.” It is only our daily bread that we are encouraged to ask for. The present is the only time in which any duty can be done or any grace received.
