Hours after Fed's quarter-point cut, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has cut the city's base interest rate to 5% to help reboot business and reduce the burden on mortgage borrowers. Adding up the half-percentage-point cut in September, the key rate of Hong Kong has fallen back to the level of February 2023. Before this policy, the city's gross domestic product (GDP) grew slowly, and the adjustment of the rate will help the economy of the city expand.
