山谷之下一团烟雾
五日大雨后，三天酷暑
树脂在冷杉球果上闪耀
越过岩石和草地
新生的苍蝇成群飞舞。
我无法记起自己读过的东西
有三两个朋友，但都住在城里。
喝着锡罐中冰冷的雪水
向下远眺数百里
天空高旷而静寂。
Mid-August at Sourdough Mountain Lookout
Down valley a smoke haze
Three days heat,after five days rain
Pitch glows on the fir-cones
Across rocks and meadows
Swarms of new flies.
I cannot remember things I once read
A few friends,but they are in cities.
Drinking cold snow-water from a tin cup
Looking down for miles
Through high still air.
