According to the national bureau of statistics released data transportation economy operation in 2017, the highway passenger transportation is in the trend of gradually decreasing. From January toNovember, the total passenger flow of all kinds of transportation reached 1.7billion, and the year-on-year decreased 1.3%.

Railway transportation has a dramatic increase, the total passenger flow reached285,160 people, and the year-on-year growth increase 11.2%.

Highway passenger transportation has kept decreasing. The total passenger flow reached 1,346,792 people, and the year-on-year growth decrease 4.2%.

Water carriage increased gradually.the total passenger flow reached 26,397 people, and the year-on-year growth increase 5.1%.

Civil aviation has a significant growth. the total passenger flow reached 50,479 people, and the year-on-year growth increase 17%.

From the above data, it can easily see the dramatic growth in railway transportation and in civil aviation, especially the civil aviation. However, water carriage has increased gradually, still can see a growth at the end of the year. And the year-on-year growth of highway passenger transportation has falling from the beginning of the year, but in four kinds of transportations, it has the biggest flow of passengers. It means that though people are using other transportations to take the place of highway transportation, it still a big demand for the passenger transportation mode.

During Spring Festival, passenger transport volume for railways, highways and airways increases rapidly. Up to February 21, the 40-day 2017 Spring Festival travel rush was over. According to the ministry of transport,as of February 20, about 2.7 billion passengers were sent by railway, highway, waterway and civil aviation in China. Railway and highway are the main one that people choose.

From the above chart, especially the data of January and February of the highway transportation flow was the peak period of the year. And high-speed railway accounts for 60% of railway transportation.

According to 236 key transport hubs, during the Spring Festival travel rush, railway station and airport of Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing; Zhengzhou railway station, bus terminal of Xian and Guangxi got the biggest passenger flow of China. It is not surprise that Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai are the top rank. Lots of people from other cities and provinces go to these three places to get a better job offer, better quality of life, higher wages and greater opportunities. When Spring Festive is coming, most of them will get hurry to go back home to celebrate it. Therefore, because of the convenience of the high-speed rail, the cheap price of the highway car, make the railway and highway being the most popular one.

In addition to the Spring Festival travel rush, another peak period of railway and highway is the September 1st Golden week. From Sep 1 to Sep 7,the total flow of highway passengers reach 561 million people, remain the same as last year.

From the above data, in August, it seems that people are more willing to travel by waterway and airplane. It is the most busiest period of waterway and civil aviation of the year. Leading to this result is because in August, many families with children will spend the summer vacation on traveling cause many people do not want to give up the opportunity to travel. Therefore, during the summer vacation, going to far distance travel or long period travel is the best choice and best time to go. For example, going abroad or cruise holidays.

In general, China’s high-speed rail is growing faster and faster, however, after the speed of it has increase, it is believe that there will be a significant increase in demand. And of the other ones, like highway transportation, is still the main travel mode of which people choose, as the above chart shown.
