P450 monooxygenases decorate basic triterpene skeletons by the introduction of hydroxyl, ketone, aldehyde, carboxyl, or epoxy groups. P450s typically catalyze the following reaction: RH + O2+ 2e–+ 2H+→ ROH + H2O. This reaction relies on P450 reductase (CPR) as the electron transfer and NAD(P)H as the electron donor. In some cases, Cytochromeb5is required as an alternative electron donor for P450-catalyzed reactions.(DOI:10.1021/acssynbio.0c00124)
