Reflections

So today is ending my first week at my new school, ACG Parnell College. I found that the difference from a private school and a public school aren’t that much. In a public school, rules are more strict and freedom is limited. But in a private school they are still strict on rules but give you much more space and freedom. Carrying your mobile device in your bag is one example. Education wise, private schools do give a lot more homework than public schools and they have a very strict timetable. While in public schools, your development is demanded by yourself and all they will do is give a little idea of what to learn and the rest is up to you. The timetable also fluctuates a lot, not the same thing every week.

Next I want to talk about people. Firstly I must mention the size of the schools. In year 9, my school only had approximately 125 students. In my friend’s school, he has over 500 students in year 9. So automatically the competition and self demand for improvement in public schools are much higher than in private schools. Do that’s one thing I think public schools are better at. The environment that students get is much more filled and therefore the competition is much higher and since the school doesn’t give you much tutoring and advanced topics as you would get at a out of school class or self studying then it relies on self demand for improvement. One is there to force you to do things. Both private and public schools have this ideology. The ideology that you set your own guidelines and if you fail the we can only catch you once. So that inclines students to have hard working personalities and freedom and mindfulness at the same time. I really believe this and I think it should be that way. If someone is always setting tasks for you to compete, that’s only a good way to hone your skills to perfection, not a way to hone your mind to which path to take in life. You see, when you get out of school, it’s just you and your own intellect. No one will be there to feed you, tell you what to do or even compete with you. You may think well the society and real world is much bigger than school, so surely the competition is stronger. My answer. It is, but you have to go find it and pursue it. To do this you must set goals for yourself and that is what they teach in schools in  country. Success is fuelled within your own willingness to succeed.

Anyways, that’s my thoughts on the differences of public and private and overall life. I am actually writing this at 11:30pm so it might be a bit droopy, but that’s how it think and that’s what is think is the truth and what I believe. Anyways, goodnight folks!
