Yesenia-touching film

《Yesenia》，a classical Mexican movie,desert spring at that time:1971,for a lot of young people, are unkown. At the beginning of the film, I was attracted by the exotic gypsy dance which reminded me of Esmeralda’s dancing on the square in 《Notre Dame de Paris》.

The story took place in a Mexican town. Yesenia, a gypsy girl, beautiful,brave and self-respecting,like a wild rose gushing in the wind. Oswaldo,a white officer,fell in love with her at first sight despite differences and socail prejudices. How beautiful love was.They married in the gypsy tribe with gypsy etiquette,took the eternal oath:”Unless there is a day in the world, when wheat, bread, wine and salt are gone, love will end.”

Happiness was always fleeting.Oswaldo had been arrested and imprisoned by the enemy on duty.When Oswaldo was rescued and returned to his godfather’s home, inquired about Yesenia’s whereabouts,but no word.His godfather’s granddaughter:Lousia,who had a serious heart disease,fell in love with Oswaldo with the simplicity and enthusiasm.However,Oswaldo was still in love with Yesenia.For fear that rejection of Louisa’s love would cause tragedy,Oswaldo reluctantly agreed to marry Louisa.When fate brought them together again in a Mexican church(serendipity),Oswaldo was engaged to Louisa.Yesenia and her husband had been seperated for a long time, and their love had gone a severe test. Strong love never faded away. Never changed their minds.  

Personally, I appreciated Louisa,Yesenia’s younger sister, naive and kind, deeply moved by sincere sisterhood although separated from birth. When Louisa learned that her fiance Oswaldo was originally married to Yesenia,she felt indebted to Yesenia,so gave up her love, chose to quit although suffered. Next day, Louisa asked Yessenia to try on her wedding dress, I knew that she wanted her sister to marry Oswaldo in it. “It’s beautiful on you,on your wedding day,you will look beautiful.”She begged sister not to leave before the wedding,then quietly left on the morning of the wedding and went to a trip to Europe with her grandfather.I couln’t help crying, tears of toughing and joy. How many girls can do that nowadays?   Perfect ending,Yesenia finally reunited with Oswaldo.  

Old movies which could carry on touching feelings might no longer be fashionable,we still feel warm.
