在行动的过程中寻找学习方法 - 看老友记学英语 （013）

写在前面的话

看老友记学英语这个系列已经到第十三期了，有人说，人与人最小的差距是智商的差距，最大的差距是坚持的差距。在成长的道路上能够坚持做一件事真的非常重要，而且坚持不是盲目的坚持，而是有方法地去坚持。那么方法怎么找呢？

学习不能等，要在行动的过程中寻找方法

如果你先花上三天时间认真地思考到底应该怎么学英语，而且做了一个周全而又详细的计划，那么三天以后和你一起开始学英语的小伙伴可能早已经记熟几百个单词了，而你却发现你花了三天做出的计划并不符合你的实际学习情况，需要推倒重来。然后你又花了三天，做了一个新的学习计划，这样一直下去，必然是把时间都浪费在了做没有用的计划上去了。

我认为在学习这件事上，最好是一边实践一边总结学习方法，而不是先做出一套方法来再拿来去实践。因为当你实践过之后自然会发现什么样的方法好用，什么样的方法不好用，好用的方法就可以坚持下去，不好用的自然就会丢掉。

网络上有很多大神介绍自己的学习方法，我们都可以拿来尝试，如果试后发现适合自己，那最好不过了。如果试后发现不适合自己就可以去试新的方法。就像是一条路一样，本来没有路，是在不停地尝试以后，走得多了，才成了路。

拿我自己作为一个例子。我刚开始背单词的时候是拿着词典背的，因为当时看了新东方俞敏洪的演讲，他说他背单词就是拿一本词典从a开始背，一直背到最后一页。我看完他的演讲以后热血沸腾，也开始背词典，结果才背了两页就背不下去了，主要原因是有些单词太多生僻，日常生活中根本用不到，我一边背一边计算将来会用到这个词的机率，当我发现太小的时候，几乎就没有动力了。所以我就放弃了这种背单词的方法。

后来有一段时间听了另外一个大神的分享，我又开始听VOA, 而且我会把材料都打印出来，标记出所有的生词，然后每天都记。我记得当时上班的时候开会前我都会拿出来记两个单词。结果有一次我听了一篇关于保护野生动物的报道，然后开始记里边的生词。两个同事看到我正在记 “北美麋鹿” 这个单词，一个对另一个说，“看人家多用功”。另一个说，“我才不记这种单词呢，浪费时间”。我当时听了犹如棒喝，突然发现自己可能又找错了方向。VOA里边的大部分资料也是偏向于社会，政治，自然环境，和我们的生活也有一定的距离。不是说不能学，而是应该先学好常用的，再去学那些比较合理。所以我也放弃了这种学习方法。

直到现在我选择了看美剧学英语的方法。它的剧情都是和我们的生活息息相关，所以用到的都是高频词汇，而且还可以学习地道的表达方法，具体方法可以参考我之前写的看老友记学英语 (007) - 如何把英语学习轻松融入到日常生活中去。当然如果在行动的过程中我再遇到更好的方法，我还会果断地接着去尝试。

下面就接着学习老友记吧。

103 The One With theThumb

[Scene: Central Perk,everyone but Phoebe is there.]

Phoebe:(entering)Hi guys!

All:Hey, Phoebes! Hi!

Ross:Hey. Oh, oh,how'd it go?

Phoebe:Um, not so good. He walked me to the subway and said 'We should do this again!'

All: Oh h. Ouch.

Rachel:What? He said 'we should do it again', that's good, right?

Monica:Uh, no. Loosely translated（粗略地翻译一下，He didn't reply your weichat message, loosely translated, he doesn't like you.）'We should do this again' means 'You will never see me naked'.

Rachel:Since when?

Joey:Since always. It's like dating language. Y'know, like 'It's not you' means 'It isyou'.

Chandler:Or 'You're such a nice guy' means 'I'm gonna be dating leather-wearing alcoholics (皮革族的酒徒)and complaining about them to you'.

Phoebe:Or, or,y'know, um, 'I think we should see other people' means 'Ha, ha, I already am'.

Rachel:And everybody knows this?

Joey:Yeah.Cushions the blow (给垫着点儿,减缓打击。His hat helped to cushion the blow.).

Chandler:Yeah, it's like when you're a kid, and your parents put your dog to sleep（put to sleep:杀死|使入睡）, and they tell you it went off to live on some farm.

Ross: That's funny, that, no, because, uh, our parents actually did, uh, send our dog off to live on a farm.

Monica:Uh, Ross.

Ross:What? Wh-hello? The Millners' farm in Connecticut? The Millners, they had this unbelievable farm, they had horses, and, and rabbits that he could chase and it was- it w-.Oh my God, Chi Chi!

Joey:"I just wanna go back to my cell. 'Cause in my cell, I can smoke."

Chandler:"Smoke away."

(Joey takes out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.  He fumbles and drops the lighter.  Thenhe lights a cigarette, takes a drag, and coughs.)

Chandler:I think this is probably why Damone smokes in his cell alone.

Joey:What?

Chandler:Relax your hand!

(Joey lets his wrist go limp.)

Chandler:Not so much!

Joey:Whoah!

Chandler: Hey!

Joey:Hey!

Chandler:Alright, now try taking a puff（一口烟，也有泡芙的意思。I took a puff on the cigarette and started coughing.）.

(Joey tries and visibly winces.)

Chandler:Nah, not so much. Alright, now we smoke. (Takes a puff.) Oh.. my.. God. (He continues to smoke.)

Rachel:(carrying a tray of drinks) Alright, don't tell me, don't tell me! (Starts handing them out.) Decaf（脱因咖啡）cappuccino（卡布其诺）for Joey..Coffee black.. Late.. And an iced tea. I'm getting pretty good at this!

All:Yeah. Yeah,excellent.

Rachel:(leaving to serve others)Good for me（我好棒。Good for you,你好棒）!
