Here is some advice on how to receive feedback.

What are some things I could have done differently?

Be proactive.
Be proactive when receiving feedback.
If you are unsure about how to improve, ask for specific suggestions.
This sets clear expectations for what you should do.
For example, if you're told, "Your report needs more work," you can follow up with a specific question like "Do you think it was too long?"
This helps you to be clear what improvements should be made.

It can be easy to look for excuses when hearing critical feedback.
