《英文之窗》April Fool's Day（愚人节）

April Fool's Day started in the sixteenth century in Europe. Before that timeNew Year's Day was celebrated  on April 1st.

愚人节起源于16世纪的欧洲。在那之前，人们在4月1日庆祝元旦。

Then a new calendar was introduced called the Gregorian calendar. January 1st became the first day of the year,but many people did not know about it.

然后，一种新的历法被引入，叫做格利高里历。1月1日成为了一年的第一天，但是很多人并不知道这一天。

So those who continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1st were teased They were called fools

因此，那些继续在4月1日庆祝新年的人被嘲笑，他们被称为傻瓜。

Nowadays we play jokes on people on April 1st.For example someone might put salt in the sugar container so another person could“accidentally" put it in their coffee.

现在，我们在4月1日开玩笑。例如，有人可能会把盐放在糖容器里，这样另一个人就会“不小心”把盐放进咖啡里。

Or someone might change the time on another person's alarm clock so that person woulc unknowingly wake up earlier or later than planned.Or maybe a person would tell a lie to make someone else shocked.

After we play the trick,we say“April Fool".Then the poor person realizes he was fooled.
