Attitude Towards Food

Over dinner, Jenny shared the experience to grow loofahs. It was until then that I got to know how capable she was. She used to grow various plants on a large block of land and even raise chickens in her own backyard. Also, she enjoyed going fishing due to the fresh flavour of fish. Inevitably, it was part of her job to kill the livestock when it was mature and ready to eat. Ling said killing animals seemed too cruel and the only animal she dared kill were cockroaches.

This recalled a previous news report that 36 Japanese pupils were encouraged to raise 2 piglets collectively on a pig farm. The children saw the pigs grow up gradually and got increasingly closer to them until five months later when the pigs were sent to a nearby slaughterhouse and became pork chops eventually. I can still remember the children cry hard saying goodbye to their pig pets. Personally, I find the coverage realistic, cruel but very educational. It makes us realise we should be thankful for our food and other things we have. All the commercial food is taken for granted by us, but we seldom think about where they come from. Animals sacrifice their lives to feed and support us. As a result, we appreciate delicious food, absorb their nutrition and enjoy a good life.
