以身作则爱妈妈

Today is the Mother Day. I'm here by salute to all mothers. I will make sure that I call my mother when she wakes up in her time zone. I miss her already.

今天母親節，此致敬禮全天下媽媽。慈母清晨，醒來睜眼，定當問安。兒行萬里母擔憂，值此節日念親恩。

When I just came to the U.S. a long time ago, I learned that there was such a thing as the Mother Day. And AT&T, the major telephone company would offer big long distance call discounts on only two occasions: Thanksgiving Day and the other one, the Mother Day.

遙想當年，初登美洲，孤陋寡聞。紀念母親，竟有節日？美國電話電報公司，給我提供長途電話折扣，每年僅得兩次，一則感恩節，一則母親節。

That motivated people to call their mothers on the right occasion. I thought that made a lot of sense. Who said the "foreign devils" don't understand "filial piety"?

此則激勵人們，于適當時機，給母親打電話。我想此事意義非凡。誰說洋鬼不懂孝道呢？

Now what can us guys do on a Mother Day? Here is another my favorite quote: "The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." I'm planning to do just that.

於今正當母親節，我輩能作什麼？此處我引用名言：“做为一名父亲，他能为自己的孩子做到的最好的事情是 - 爱他们的妈妈。”計畫雖好，不如立刻去做。

我觉得这篇文章，虽然短小，却是精华简练皆具备，值得一读。文章讲一个中国人初到美国，才了解到有母亲节这么个节日，并且，在美国电话電報公司(AT&T)办理长途电话业务时，获知母亲节有折扣活动，以后每年母亲节，作者在母亲节这天。可以痛痛快快给妈妈打跨国电话。

而且，作者对于中美文化异同给出独特思考，提出问题“谁说洋鬼子不懂得孝道呢？”

最后，作者引用名言恰到好处。我们中国人都爱讲以身作则，这个爱妈妈如何教给自己的孩子呢？当然是先爱自己的妈妈。作者以一句想到就做来收尾，提醒人们“光说不做嘴把式”，光想不做那是思想上的矮子。
