IP of SnappyXO
SnappyXOis a robotic kit for engineer students. What are included in the kit can beseen in the following picture.
Any robots can be built using the laser-cutplate on the left with the white conjunction components on the right. Just likeLego use its unique design of insertion to connect blocks, these conjunctioncomponents that enable plates to connect with each other in different positionsand directions easily are the most valuable thing for SnappyXO. They belong toutility patents as patents are still pending.
However, the appropriability for thisinnovation is not so optimistic because anyone with relevant machines who buy akit of this can duplicate all the components in the kit easily and quickly. Soprotection for it is really important. Future plan may be giving limitedlicensing to plants to do mass production.
Also, we should notice that SnappyXO isinvented by a Stony Brook professor during his working time in Stony BrookUniversity with the help of the machines in the school lab. So the IP belongsto Stony Brook University for now.
