2018-09-20  本文已影响14人  小书童札记

约一个月后要参加人生首次雅思,诚惶诚恐,因此在此开始准备,聊作纪念和梳理。

Come on!

Part 1

1. What are you from?

I come from southern Jiangxi, a province neighbouring Guangdong.

2. What are the nicest parts of your hometown?

In my opinion, the best part is the comfortable climate and harmonious relationship. The season changes mildly and people interact with each other in great harmony.

3. What parts of your hometown are most suitable for families and children?

Just as I mentioned above, climate and community tend to be really agreeable. Moreover, the food there satisfies the appetite of both the old and the young. Last but not least, the local public facility such as varied sports arena is extremely welcome for families.

4. What do you usually do on your birthday?

In general, I would gather with my close friends who will usually purchase a birthday cake for me. We enjoy a dinner together and then go to sing Karaoke to celebrate this particular day. Not until midnight do we return home and finish this celebration ceremony.

5. What did you do on your last birthday?

Well. Instead of following the conventional celebration ritual, I spent my last birthday with my family. My wife prepared a delicious meal and a birthdaycake with her best wish for me. They took some photos and I had some photos developed and hanged them in our dining room.

6. Could you please tell me something about your hometown?

Well, about my hometown, certainly there are some things that I could share with you here. For starters, my hometown is Jiangxi, which is located/situated in the south of China with four well distinguished cities, and in terms of scenery out there, I could use one word to describe it, which is breathtaking.

Furthermore, my hometown is famous for its delicious food, and I guess people there are experts at making yummy snacks and cuisines, and you might just find your heaven there if you are a foodie.

Part 2

Describe your favourite movie.

when/where/what type/why/what is it about

There is no doubt that my favorite film is Forrest Gump, an inspirational movie cast by Tom Hanks. I enjoyed it when I was still in grade 10 when I was studying in the best senior high school in my hometown county. Speaking of its category, I would classify it as a film like chicken soup because it really encourages you to try your very best. It narrates the story of a crippled boy who pushes his limits and achieves formidable success throughout his life. What impresses me most is the line which goes like this: Life is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you are gonna get. Therefore, it is crucial for us to tap our full potential and live our life to the fullest. It is undoubtedly a classic film and will continue to drive me forward.

Part 3

1 Do you think watching movies can have any educational benefits?

Of course. Watching movies not only enables the audience to watch scenes that they themselves would never be able to truly see or experience but also gives them countless life lessons from which they can benefit immensely. It is also worthy to be pointed out that quality and positive films transmit moral values such as beauty, kindness, bravery to the spectators so that they will again inherit such mankind character and quality. It is in this way that films shoulder the responsibility of educating and inspiring the public at large.

2. How are movies different from real life?

It is not unusual for us to see movies which are far more different from real life. From where I stand, there are two reasons. The first goes to the fact that only with something larger than reality can the film attract sufficient audience and impress them. The second reason is that movies reflect real life instead of copying it. In other words, films epitomize life so as to render lessons to the target audience. Hence, it is necessary for movies to reveal reality but also something larger than life.

3. Do men and women like to watch the same kinds of films?

Typically, men and women do not like the same kind of films. The reason why I believe this is simple. From a very early age, boys are conditioned to be tough and play fighting games with each other, whereas girls are conditioned to "play house", which in essence is preparing them for marriage. When these children grow up, their taste are a reflection of their conditioning. This is not to say that girls are unable to like action movies. It's that they are more likely to gravitate towards the familiar, which in this case are things more centered around love and family.

4. Do different age groups like the same kinds of films?

Personally, people of different ages show varied preference for films. This can be attributed to their growing environment, interest, taste and even the features of an era. For instance, I belong to the post 90s, a member of the generation who is fond of blockbusters which features stunts and cutting-edge technology. In comparison, audience aged more than 50, most of whom are of the age of my parents, are fond of films related with family and martial arts in ancient China. Just as was mentioned previously, films seem to be imprinted with age-oriented marks, which is quite interesting.
