你不该佇候峭壁上钉的标志牌
又一边看着水里的流光溢彩
似乎你并没有高飞。那回家去，就说
你只见着了三只半野半家的鹌鹑
顽石之间，远处那只海鸥
最初仿佛一张白纸在上下飘飞。
佳音若是前来，你切勿手忙脚乱；
噩耗意外而至，会对你苦苦搜拿。切勿
半路恰逢灾祸，后果是如此严峻。
岸上观景到处都是视错觉：
帆影一抹黑，但不可妄下结论。

诗人简介：A. E. 斯托林斯（Alicia Elsbeth Stallings, 1968-）美国当代诗人和翻译家，曾获麦克阿瑟奖、诗人奖、古根海姆创意写作奖等文学奖项。她曾就读佐治亚大学和牛津大学，1999年迁居希腊雅典。她是美国艺术与科学院院士。

苏尼翁角：离雅典城65公里。除自然景观外 主要以波塞东神庙而著名。苏尼翁角原来也是雅典重要的前线重镇之一，现在这里绝对是一处眺望爱琴海的绝佳拍摄地点。

You shouldn’t wait for signs out on a cliff
Watching the razzle-dazzle of the water
If you’ve no head for heights. Go home, and say
You only saw three half-tame partridges
Among the rocks, and a seagull in the distance
That seemed at first like the shake of a white sheet.
If news is good, you cannot hurry it;
If news is bad, it tracks you down. Don’t meet
Catastrophe halfway, the steep what if.
The offing’s full of optical illusions:
The sails are black, but don’t jump to conclusions.
